Aleyois grew up in Puebla, Mexico, and early on, she developed a curiosity about the world. Her journey led her to the US in 2014 after working at a summer camp in New England to improve her English. Now calling Kansas City home, Aleyois has been with Maya Yoga since 2021. Here, she reconnected with her spiritual side through Ashtanga, which she weaves into her daily life and artistic pursuits.

An introductory Ashtanga class that focuses on the fundamentals, ensuring that you build a strong foundation in the key elements of the practice: the tristhana (breath, asana, and drishti) and foundational postures of the Primary series.
Led by our expert instructor, Aleyois, who is a native Spanish speaker, you'll explore the fundamental elements of Ashtanga yoga in a welcoming and familiar environment as she teaches in both Spanish and English.
Key Components
Breathwork (Ujjayi Pranayama): Learn the essential breathing technique of Ashtanga yoga, known as Ujjayi Pranayama. This controlled breath helps you generate internal heat and maintain focus throughout the practice, facilitating a meditative state.
Basic Poses (Asanas): Explore the fundamental postures of the Ashtanga Primary Series. Our instructors will guide you through proper alignment and offer modifications tailored to your individual needs, ensuring a safe and effective practice.
Vinyasa (Flow): Understand the concept of vinyasa, which involves synchronizing breath with movement. This dynamic style of yoga will help you develop strength, flexibility, and endurance while maintaining a steady and mindful rhythm.
Alignment and Adjustments: Receive personalized adjustments and guidance from our instructors to help you achieve proper alignment in each pose. These adjustments are essential for preventing injuries and deepening your practice.
