Maya takes a comprehensive approach to yoga training. While many studios simply focus on basic cues and practice hours, Maya focuses on the philosophy and traditions of yoga. Topics like: Ayurveda, Hindu philosophy, Sanskrit language, anatomy, pranayama breath work, and more allow for a complete education.
Each Instructor brings their expertise to the program. Emily’s anatomy and breath work instruction are top notch. I have a background in medicine, holotropic breath work, and alternative states of consciousness - and she brought new information and experiences every weekend of training. Learning the ashtanga pranayama series with Emily is a must for aspiring yogis! Kyra is an ashtanga all-star and raises the bar for instruction. She is always discerning and works aggressively on improving your skills. Her expansive travels to India and work with renowned yogis provide cultural significance to her teaching content. Jesse’s lectures and meditations are phenomenal and she is a special breed of yoga instructor. Jesse’s background in history and design provides for relevant commentary on modern approaches to yogic philosophy and literature. Learning with Jesse provides an open arena for expanding your consciousness and learning how to be a better person in general.
Maya is the highest level of quality yoga studio in town and the instructors are AMAZING to learn from. From studying Ashtanga yoga at Maya, I’ve grown as a yoga practitioner, physician, and person.
