Laruga Glaser Weekend Workshop with Monday Mysore

April 24 @ 6:00 PM - April 27 @ 9:00 AM$24 – $60

Laruga Glaser is joining us at Maya Yoga for her FIRST EVER WORKSHOP in the MIDWEST!

Friday April 24th thru Monday Morning Mysore on the 27th (schedule below):

Friday April 24th at 6pm: Led Primary: Primary Series is traditionally counted (in Sanskrit) in a rhythmic fashion to invoke a sense of flow and concentration as we breathe and move in a unified manner. This will be a Full Led Primary Series class from start to finish in celebration and honor of the immeasurable lineage of Ashtanga yoga. Time will also be taken afterward for discussion and Q&A.

Saturday April 25th at 10am: Gateway Poses of Primary Series: All postures in the sequences of Ashtanga yoga are important. However, in this workshop, we will take a closer look at the core postures in Primary series that are integral to opening and strengthening the body-mind to set the stage and foundation to more intelligently grow and evolve in the practice.

Saturday April 25th at 2pm: Philosophy Talk: Discipline and Transcendence:  Abhyāsa– in Hinduism, is a spiritual practice which is regularly and constantly practiced over a long period of time. Vairāgya– is a Sanskrit term used in Hindu as well as Jain philosophy that roughly translates as dispassion, detachment, or renunciation, in particular renunciation from the pains and pleasures in the temporary material world.

Sunday April 26th at 10am:  Intermediate Series Introduction:  Nādī Śhodana also known as Intermediate Series, otherwise known as nādī śhodana, meaning nervous system cleansing, builds upon the culmination of energy and purification within the practitioner built from the foundation of Primary Series. With deeper backbends and forward bends as well as arm balances, the Intermediate series integrates the use of opposing forces to garner greater unity and strength, both mental and physical, opening the internal light of awareness within each individual. Whether new to the practice of Intermediate Series, or an experienced practitioner, this workshop will invoke new insights and inspire your already existing practice.

Sunday April 26th at 2pm:  Backbending Awareness:  The paradox of backbending is that we must be firm and soft at the same time, uniting the energy of strength and surrender. Learn the basic components of backbending with integrity to the natural flow of the body. In addition, learn to understand the concept of active release. When actively releasing, we experience the use of grounding mechanisms to establish the downward flow of energy while fully utilizing the breath to then be able to expand and deepen. In this workshop learn the foundational techniques that allow the body to find its depth and strength while at the same time letting go. For all levels.
