Back bends are often met with resistance, either in the body or the mind. Back bends stimulate the proper functioning of the digestive system, help preserve the health of the vertebrae, open the heart, and allow the body deep diaphragmatic breathing. If you think you’re too stiff, we’ll work to understand how to maneuver your body in a safe way and learn how to bend correctly and without fear. The secrets of deep back bends are available through the activation of specific muscles, alignment and breath which allow the heart to open and the spine to lengthen safely.
Kyra studied under her mentor, Lisa Schrempp KPJAYI level 2 for over a year plus a RYT 500 hour and became certified to teach in 2009. Along the way she was honored to study with Sharath Jois, Richard Freeman, Kino MacGregor, Laura Spaulding, David Swenson, Ruth Lauer-Manenti, among others. She studies now under the distinguished and advanced Ashtanga certified Laruga Glaser (COMING TO MAYA APRIL 24th-26th 2020!). She is also trained to teach vinyasa with heavy Juvamukti influence, as well as Acro Yoga.
She hopes to translate her love of life, movement, and practice in her classes; helping to find compassion and kindness for oneself in this beautiful practice.
